Construction
Cable Splicer

Qualified candidates have proven experience in splicing cables of any kind or voltage for connecting cable, transformers, junction boxes and other equipment on underground or overhead systems. Cable splicer apprenticeship is required along with a clean driving record. Must be able to work unusual and/or extended hours, travel to various work sites as needed with limited notice and lift 90 lbs.

Coax & Fiber Splicer

Qualified candidates have demonstrated experience in underground or aerial coax and fiber construction, with coax splicing expertise. Must have a clean driving record with a Class A CDL license. Aerial lineman must be able to safely operate a boom truck, climb poles as needed and utilize standard tools of the trade. Candidates must have the ability to multi-task and troubleshoot RF levels using an RF Meter as needed.

Gas Construction Technician

Qualified candidates must have general knowledge of functions relating to the installation and maintenance of natural gas facilities and pressure control procedures. Must be able to perform labor and semi-skilled natural gas-related mechanical work independently or as a member of a crew. This is a very physically demanding position requiring a good deal of mechanical aptitude - we have found those that enjoy and excel at auto mechanics and laboring do very well at this position.

Gas Field Survey Technician

Qualified candidates test utility-owned structures, including but not limited to gas services and pipelines, gas meters, utility (telephone) poles, support cables, and underground units. The position of Field Survey technician is a fairly physically demanding position, requiring a significant amount of walking and a fair aptitude for electronics and map reading skills. The position may require the employee to walk between 1 and 5 miles daily and drive up to 50 miles.

Gas Fuser

Qualified candidates have experience installing and pressure testing installed pipe and have a clean driving record. Work is completed by heat fusion of predominantly Poly and HDPE plastic pipe. Must have 2+ years of recent and verifiable experience in Natural Gas work and an extensive knowledge of Poly and HDPE pipe products. Candidates must be able to lift heavy loads continuously and work outside in all weather conditions for extended periods.

Groundman

Qualified candidates are required to perform rigorous physical labor. Candidates are required understand the basic use of hand tools and the basic rigging, hand lines and lineman knot tyings. This position requires the upmost attention to safety while working on construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized electric lines. Groundman is an entry-level position in the construction, maintenance and repair of transmission and distribution systems, both overhead and underground.

Lineman

Qualified candidates are willing to perform safe, rigorous physical labor on new construction, maintenance or repair work on energized and de-energized lines. Must possess climbing skills and be physically able to do all assigned tasks that relate to line work while working from a pole with climbing gear, a bucket truck or while on the ground. This position requires candidates to possess a Class A CDL license. Must be able to demonstrate that they can follow all OSHA Federal Register work requirements as pertaining to the trade.

Pipe Welder

Qualified candidates must coordinate and complete welding, construction and maintenance tasks as part of a pipeline crew and must be willing to travel. DOT operational qualifications are required for working and welding on pipelines. Must be able to perform all phases of mobilizing, operating and maintaining heavy excavation equipment to include excavation frequently on loaded natural gas pipelines with a dedicated focus on safety.

Project Manager

Qualified candidates will have construction management and administration experience. Experience in electrical transmission and/or distribution facilities preferred, but not required. Must have knowledge of Primevera, Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word. Qualified candidates will have experience with construction documentation, cost tracking, invoicing, and schedule maintenance. Must have strong written communication skills and ability to manage and track details.

Engineering
Distribution Engineer

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering degree with a minimum of 4 plus years' of experience, or a comparable Associate's Degree with six plus years' of engineering experience. A minimum of 4 years' of experience in the electric utility industry and a minimum of 2 years' of experience in distribution line design and review is required. Candidates must be a Professional Engineer (PE) and have thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred experience includes RUS Distribution Design Standards, RUS Construction Units both overhead and underground, RUS Work Order Inspection Process, working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and Distribution Line Staking Software. Position is based in Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC and Baltimore, MD.

Protective Relaying Project Engineer

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years' experience. Candidate must be experienced with the design of protection and control systems for utility class substations. Experience is required with the preparation of specifications and drawings for protection and control systems and major equipment; calculation of fault currents and relay settings; development of digital relay logic, calibration, testing and programming of protective relays. Candidates must be able to perform functional testing on protection and control systems and have SCADA design experience. Position is based in Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC and Baltimore, MD.

Senior Substation/Protective Relay Engineer

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering degree and be a Professional Engineer (PE) with a minimum of 15 years' of experience. Job requirements are substation design and protection management and the design of protection and control systems. Experience required includes preparation of specifications and drawings for major equipment, structures, protection and control systems; development of digital relay logic; calibration, testing and programming of protective relays. Functional testing of protection and control systems along with SCADA design experience is also required. Position is based in Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC and Baltimore, MD.

Division Manager - Gas Pipeline Sr. Engineer/Manager

Qualified candidates must be a Professional Engineer (PE) with a minimum of 10 years' experience with at least three years' experience in a leadership position with the ability to obtain multi-state registrations. This position is responsible for leading the engineering services activities for new, modified, retrofitted and renovated natural gas distribution systems projects, including repair and maintenance related services. Plastic and steel pipeline experience required. Pipeline, metering station and metering set, pressure regulator station, isolation valve, cathodic protection and pipeline integrity engineering experience required. Position is responsible for executing the preparation of engineering documents for natural gas distribution system projects. Must be knowledgeable of applicable ASME and 49CFR, Part 192 requirements and other applicable codes and standards. Position is located in Raleigh, NC and Baltimore, MD.
